Much is covered in each one-hour episode of the Nostradamus Effect, with quotes from interviews with experts, scientists, theologians, and authors.
In the episode Three Secrets of Fatima, History Channel describes the recognized Catholic miracle of Our Lady of Fatima and asks, “Were Mother Mary's prophesies describing today's events?”
The Miracle of Fatima was witnessed by three children, Lucia Santos, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto, in the countryside in Fatima, Portugal. The children saw a series of six visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as Our Lady of Fatima. The visions occurred once a month between May and October, 1917, culminating in the Miracle of the Sun for multitudes of witnesses in October.
The Miracle of the Sun on October 13th, 1917
Only the children could see Our Lady of Fatima, so there were many non-believers and skeptics. Mother Mary provided a miracle for witnesses, now called the Miracle of the Sun.
The Catholic Church officially recognizes the Miracle of the Sun as an Intervention Miracle, an undeniable Divine Sign.
According to the History Channel, the Miracle was produced by the Blessed Virgin Mary on a dark, rainy afternoon, October 13th, 1917. The rain stopped, the dark clouds parted and an unusual, luminescent sun appeared as a rotating disk, casting multi-colored lights to the amazement of 70,000 witnesses.
The Virgin Mary's Prophesies of Doom
Many believers claim that Mother Mary prophesied the second World War. A mysterious omen foretold of WWII: ominous series of light patterns (Aurora Borealis) lit up the sky above Europe just 47 days before Adolf Hitler invaded Austria.
Was this omen a coincidence, or was it a fulfillment of prophecy, the second secret foretold at Fatima, Portugal in 1917? This episode of Nostradamus Effect, asks the audience these questions.
The Consecration of Russia to God by the Catholic Church
The second secret of Fatima involves Mother Mary's request on June 13th, 1929 for the consecration of Russia to God and to Mary's heart. The apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary warned that if Russia were not consecrated, nations will be destroyed.
Some say that the Russian leader Lenin was the Anti-Christ, as communistic Soviet Union destroyed churches and murdered thousands of civilians. Many Catholic believers claim that the communist regime was a "godless, atheistic government."
Pope Pious XI did not consecrate Russia to the church, and many believers blame the spread of communism to this defiance of Mother Mary's request. Our Lady of Fatima's prophecy was a warning, according to believers.
Pope John Paul II and the Third Secret of Fatima
On May 13th, 1981, exactly 64 years after the 1st appearance of the Virgin Mother Mary at Fatima, Portugal, an assassination attempt was made on Pope John Paul II's life. This failed assassination attempt provoked the Pope to re-examine the re-sealed letter by Lucia written in 1944 that contained the prophecy of the third secret.
Many believe that Pope John Paul II was the "Bishop in white," referred to in the third secret of Fatima. Perhaps the Pope believed it himself, as he did finally consecrate Russia to God on March 25th, 1984, right after a second failed assassination attempt.
The Three Secrets of Fatima episode reveals some of the language of warning and prophecy contained in Sister Lucia's 1944 letter:
- "...angel's flaming sword..."
- "...setting the world on fire..."
- "...fire engulfing the earth..."
- "...Lady [Mother Mary] saves us from atomic war..."
For the full text of the third secret of Fatima prophecies revealed, the Vatican website has posted copies of the original letter, as well as translation and commentary of the letter.
The Three Secrets of Fatima episode of Nostradamus Effect ends on a positive note, leaving the audience with the message that despite the dark prophesies of doom and destruction, the Blessed Virgin Mary left mankind with a message of hope.
The History Channel's documentary in this episode of Nostradamus Effect urges the audience to live responsible lives, to use free will to bring peace to earth instead of hell to earth.
According to the Three Secrets of Fatima, world peace and the salvation of souls depends on exercising free will and spiritual responsibility.
