History Channel's Nostradamus Effect is a new series in 2009 that looks for evidence of theories that reveal the convergence of current events corresponding with past predictions.
The disclaimer at the beginning of each episode is the following:
"We will neither refute nor endorse these theories, but merely present the evidence."
Much is covered in each one-hour episode of the Nostradamus Effect, with quotes from interviews with experts, scientists, theologians, and authors.
In the episode Secrets of the Seven Seals, History Channel describes the seven seals of the apocalypse and asks, “Are we in the middle of the sequence of the seven seals?”
Biblical Verses Referred to in Secrets of the Seven Seals Episode of Nostradamus Effect
Chapter 5:1 in the Book of Revelation introduces the book with the Seven Seals. Chapter 6 details briefly each of the first six riders on different colored horses. Chapter 8 details the events of the seventh Seal.
The History Channel's Secrets of the Seven Seals walks the viewer through each of the riders and the destruction and devastation associated with each broken Seal.
What does chapter 9, verse 15 and 16 refer to when it states that 1/3 of mankind will be killed? Does it refer to an alien invasion of 200 million, or an army of 200 million Chinese?
Possible Past, Present and Future Geologic Catastrophe
Secrets of the Seven Seals episode asks, "Where are we in the timeline of the Seals being broken?" Several major catastrophe have occurred in recent years, the question is are we due for more?
Does chapter 8, verse 10 refer to an asteroid? Two examples given in this episode are the following:
- The 1908 devastation of Tunguska in the Russian tundra that was possibly caused by an asteroid or meteor.
- A 1/2 mile-wide asteroid almost hit Earth in 2006. No technology could have deflected it, and millions of tons of debris would have been trapped in our atmosphere causing devastation.
This episode of the Nostradamus Effect also mentions the supervolcano in Yellowstone National Park that erupted 640,000 years ago and is long overdue to erupt, according to experts. This event would block out the sun for 40 years. Is this one of the apocalyptic events referred to in the Bible?
Biblical Experts, Authors and Theologians Interviewed in Secrets of the Seven Seals
Here is a partial list of the people interviewed in Secrets of the Seven Seals:
- Steve Wohlberg, Director of White Horse Media
- Michael Baigent, author of Racing Toward Armageddon
- Steve Gregg, author of Revelation: Four Views
- Jonathan Kirsch, author of History of the End of the World
- Dr. Pugh Joye Jeffries, author of Eden: Knowledge of Good and Evil
Jonathan Kirsch affirms that it is "... a habit of our mind to look for signs of the end." History Channel seeks to connect the dots, to connect current events with Biblical prophecies to give a clue as to where mankind may be in the time line of the end times.
A close look at any version of the Holy Bible will reveal that the prophecies are not so easily interpreted, as the Apostle John wrote cryptically about the future in terminology he could best describe. The History Channel concludes that the Book of Revelation may very well hold a blueprint for the end of the world.
