It is well worth buying or renting the DVD, Nostradamus 2012, a 2009 documentary by the History Channel. This 94 minute documentary is full of predictions, prophecies, and interviews with authors, experts, and scholars.
The extra footage is interesting, and has not been aired on the History Channel. Here are some highlights on the extra footage.
Mayan Calendar Predictions of the End of the World or the End of Time?
Doomsday prophesies include predictions of how the world will end. This documentary explores the possible ways that the world could be destroyed or how mankind might destroy itself with global warming.
The end of the world Apocalypse has different scenarios, many of which are explored in this History Channel documentary. See 2012 End of the World Predictions by Nostradamus for more description of how the DVD explores these different scenarios, and End of the World Natural Disaster Predictions for more information about the extreme weather and other possibilities mankind will face in 2012.
The Prophesies of Nostradamus
Each prophesy is explained in a modern context, so that the audience can understand the meaning of the obscure quatrains (rhyming lines of text) which comprise the oracles of Nostradamus.
The predictions of Nostradamus are abstruse, and controversy therefore surrounds the accuracy of the prophesies. Nostradamus penned the predictions in quatrains so that he could avoid censure of the Catholic Church and be excommunicated or executed for heresy.
Extra Footage on the Nostradamus 2012 DVD from the History Channel
Customers who buy the Nostradamus 2012 DVD will see extra bonus footage on the DVD not shown on television when the documentary is aired on the History Channel. Netflix offers the DVD with extra footage, as does the History Channel's online store.
The bonus features on the Nostradamus 2012 DVD include the following:
- The Sun
Lawrence Joseph, author of Apocalypse 2012, contends that the year 2012 holds the possibility of a period of violent sun activity. Joseph claims he attended a convention of 100 solar physicists recently, and was astounded that not one scientist mentioned the imminent solar flares expected.
- The Egyptians
According to this History Channel documentary, there are 13 signs of the zodiac, not 12. Ophiuchus, the Serpent Holder, is the 13th sign. The audience sees footage of a painting in the Temple of Dendera in Egypt that shows a gap in the zodiac to account for this 13th sign. Remember, this Galaxy looks like an "S" shape, like that of a serpent.
- The End of Time
"In no case is this transition going to be okay for everyone," asserts John Peterson in "The End of Time" extra footage. Paul Laviolette, PhD., author of Earth Under Fire, claims that there have been 5,000 years of accurate predictions for eclipses, equinoxes, and more.
- The Hopi
The Hopi Indians believe a cataclysm is impending. John Hogue claims that one Hopi prophecy tells of some people who may literally drop dead because of their fear of change. The changes during the end times will take place so rapidly, and to such a great extent, many will not be able to cope.
Rabbi Ariel Bar Tzadok, author of Walking Into the Fire, exhorts the audience to "choose to live as humans, not as animals." He goes on to say that for mankind to fully exercise its free will, we must first have to face the greatest enemy, which is within ourselves.
- The Masons
This extra footage covers some of the significance of the Freemasons, exclaiming that mankind may be facing a cosmic challenge to change its ways and its destiny.
There are numerous authors and experts on Nostradamus, the End Times, and the Mayan Calendar that were interviewed for the documentary. For a full list of all 11 experts and authors on 2012, see the article, List of Authors Featured in Nostradamus 2012.
